President’s Message

In the present moment we have an immense impact on our clients now and in the future. Therefore this is not solely about what we are leaving behind, it’s what legacy we are creating now.

I hope you all share your learnings, thoughts and continue to give us feedback on how we can best support you in this community.

We all, as a Board of Directors, hope to see you all at our future gatherings.

Your ICF Vancouver Chapter is

Coming to YOU

We want to support more of our members by expanding our in-person networking events.

One of the best parts of International Coaching Week was being able to gather online and in-person to make new friends and to connect, learn, and celebrate together.

ICF Vancouver chapter members are located throughout the Province and while all of our educational programming offering CCEs is made available to all members through Zoom, we would like to support more of our members by expanding our in-person networking events to include more of those coaches in regions beyond Metro Vancouver.

So, please let us know where you are and whether you are interested in an in-person ICF members event in your area? We’re looking for local volunteers who can help us identify great venues and coordinate on site with support from our Programs Chair, Ashli Komaryk.

Please email Ashli at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering to create an event in your area, if you know of a fantastic guest speaker that would appeal to coaches, or just simply to confirm that you support the idea of an in-person networking mingler for ICF coaches near you!

We look forward to hearing from you and to planning an event together this fall!

Reflections of International Coaching Week and DEI in Coaching

International Coaching Week (ICW) is an annual celebration that took place earlier this month. Our chapter brought the community together through virtual and in person events to highlight the impact of coaching on individuals and organizations and to acknowledge the role of coaches in promoting personal and professional growth. We also took the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of coaching approaches and methodologies through our Cultural Competency workshops.

The workshops recognized the role of coaching in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our workplaces or society. As coaches, it is our responsibility to promote understanding, empathy, and inclusion for all individuals. This also involves creating a more equitable and just society for everyone.

One way in which coaches can promote DEI is by developing a greater awareness of their own biases and assumptions and working to mitigate these in their coaching practice. Coaches can play a role in promoting DEI within their organizations and communities by advocating for changes to policies and practices to promote equity and inclusion, supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives, and engaging in dialogue with others to increase understanding and empathy for individuals from different backgrounds and experiences.

International Coaching Week may have been an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of coaching approaches and to recognize the role of coaching in promoting personal and professional growth. In addition to that, it is important to recognize the role of coaching in promoting DEI in our society, and to work towards creating a more equitable and just society for all individuals.
